Forthcoming by Sara Anderson
Based on a spiritual journal I kept for several years in my mid-to-late
forties, Petitioning God: What I Really Had to Do to Get My
Prayers Answered details my struggles and triumphs as I learned
what I had to do to get God to grant my requests. Unlike many
books on prayer, Petitioning God never ignores the huge difficulty
of trying to maintain faith in the face of everyday life.
The two main narratives traced in the book are a lesbian love story
and a cancer story, both of which have happy outcomes, thanks to
my successful petitioning.
You can read Chapters 1 & 2 using the buttons to the left, as well as
the whole thing in condensed form using the Abstracts button. And I
welcome all feedback, positive or negative! Please write me at

About the book:
Sara Anderson, Ph.D., is a freelance writer & editor, an
independent scholar, and a former teacher at the secondary and
college levels. After God revealed him- or her- or itself to her in an
almost frightening incident at a ninth-grade Bible study in 1971, she
began sending up pleas for help, especially with regard to her
biggest problem in life, the difficulties at school caused by her
congenital hearing impairment. Over the decades since, she has
expanded the subjects of her prayers to relationships, work, and all
other facets of life, and has tried to learn as much as she can about
how to get prayers answered.
